Preterit refresher practice (Regular, Irregular, Spelling change)

GREAT for when students return to school after a break or vacation.

Also GREAT for classwork, homework, quiz / test, or sub plans.

Part 1: REGULAR -AR, -ER, -IR INFINITIVES: Write the preterit conjugation of each subject.

*For each infinitive type (-ar, -er, -ir), students will conjugate 6 infinitives.

*Preterit verb endings are included for reference.

Part 2: SPELLING CHANGE INFINITIVES (-CAR, -GAR, -ZAR): Write the preterit Yo conjugation for each subject with the appropriate spelling change.

*6 infinitives total (2 -car, 2 -gar, 2- zar)

Part 3: IRREGULAR INFINITIVES: For each infinitive, write the preterit conjugations using the word bank.

• 5 infinitives included: Ser / Ir (combined), Dar, Ver, and Hacer.

*Students will write all 6 conjugations.

Part 4: Clue words matching: Write the correct letter of the translation of each word. (Ex: Ayer, Anoche etc).

*10 total

Part 5: Personal questions: Answer each question in a complete sentence in Spanish using the preterit tense.

*10 questions total

*A structured template is provided to write the answers.

*Infinitives used in the questions: hablar, aprender, salir, buscar, jugar, almorzar, ir, ver, dar, and hacer.

Part 6: Students will write a 5 sentence paragraph in the preterit using the guidelines provided.

Answer key is included on pages 5-7 for parts 1-4 only. For part 5, student answers will vary.
