This fully resourced bundle has been designed to support A Level History students studying AQA The Tudors 1C: England, 1485–1603, while also helping students make a confident transition from GCSE to the demands of A Level study. It will also help teachers save on hours of planning.
Henry VII provides students with the fascinating challenge of assessing how effectively a new and insecure Tudor monarchy established authority after decades of dynastic instability and civil war.
Throughout the course, students will continually revisit the central enquiry question: How secure was Henry VII’s hold on power between 1485 and 1509?
Students will explore how Henry VII restored and strengthened royal authority following the chaos of the Wars of the Roses. They will analyse:
Henry VII’s character, aims and methods
the consolidation of Tudor power after Bosworth
the role of government, councils and Parliament
the control of the nobility and local government
the development of royal finances
rebellion, opposition and dynastic threats
economic growth, trade and exploration
foreign policy, diplomacy and treaties
religion, the Church and humanism in Tudor England
The bundle also encourages students to develop independent analysis, judgement and interpretation skills essential for success at A Level.
