Help students explain how urban management strategies work, assess their success and reach judgements supported by evidence.
Managing Urban Growth explores responses to transport, housing and environmental pressures. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, provides the main examples within the Towns and Cities unit, including public transport, river restoration, public housing and flood management. Background information is included, and the approach to evaluation can be applied to other cities.
What students will learn
- How strategies respond to specific urban problems.
- How to evaluate aims, results, costs and benefits.
- The strengths and limitations of transport and traffic management.
- How housing, river restoration and flood management can improve urban life.
- The difference between making progress and achieving a target.
- How to develop a balanced judgement using evidence.
What’s included
Full Lesson and shorter Essentials presentations give you a choice of teaching depth. Colour-coded slides distinguish essential content, deeper study and optional background information.

Also included:
- Exam-style questions and model answers.
- A separate exam practice pack with a mark scheme.
- A short assessment and full answer key.
