This Treasure Hunt activity has been prepared to practice skills of rounding, as needed in many GCSE questions, rounding up to significant figures. There are three treasure hunts of increasing difficulty, with red the easiest and suitable for those entry level/Foundation covering rounding to the nearest 10, 100 etc. The amber level is suitable for GCSE students and covers rounding to given decimal places as well as nearest km, m, cm and therefore pupils are required to know their metric conversions. The green level covers rounding to a given number of significant figures.

Treasure Hunts promote cooperative learning and engagement by pupils working in pairs to find the correct answer. It can be used as the main lesson activity to determine what learning has taken place and also it is a great revision exercise. Check out our blog post on the different ways Treasure Hunt cards can be used.
