2 lessons on shape that have been adapted from the mastery approaches used in Singapore. The learning is differentiated through conceptual/procedural variation and the use of Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (C-P-A) type activities.

Lesson-2-To-describe-3-D-shapes-using-familiar-terms–to-identify-properties-of-3-D-shapes.

This work has been created for the new maths curriculum.

Lesson Structure
Introductory Activity – An activity to get this children thinking about the new concept. (5 mins)

Learn together – Introduces the new mathematical concept and helps the teacher model expert thinking. (10 mins)

Guided practice – Questions to encourage discussion and collaboration and further consolidation understanding of the new concept. Opportunities for children to explain in their own words how they solved to the class. (20 mins)

Independent activity – Questions to support AfL. Resources are on the final slide. (15 mins)

Greater Depth – Questions and activities designed to deepen mathematical thinking.
