This is a 65 slide PowerPoint slide show for Remembrance Day / Armistice Day / Poppy Day. It has been designed to be used for the two minutes silence. There are two versions included. One begins with the Last Post and ends with the Reveille. It has been set to play automatically. The other contains images set to automatically play. It ends with the Last Post. This is an ideal resource to help pupils reflect on the centenary of Armistice Day and the ending of World War I.

The powerful and poignant images have been carefully selected and show scenes of :

World War 1
World War 2
Current soldiers in the Armed Forces
War Graves
War memorials

This slide show will help pupils who find it difficult to focus during the two minutes silence. It will help them to understand why we have Remembrance Day and what it was like for both the soldiers on the front line and their families back home.

You will see from some of the images that even in desperate and difficult times people can still smile and laugh - when their houses have been demolished; when they have been injured in the War; when they are in air raid shelters.

An additional slide has been added with a link to ‘The Green Fields of France’ by John McDermott if you should wish to play it. The slides could also be used for follow-up work with the pupils to stimulate discussion and provide a stimulus for writing activities. They could also be used for display purposes.
