In this common-core activity students will learn about three different strikes from the union movement during the American Industrial Revolution: The Homestead Strike, The Pullman Strike and the Haymarket Affair. An engaging presentation is included that includes film clips, pair-share questions, class discussion questions, and a formative assessment. Students will analyze two different perspectives of the Homestead Strike and will predict the story that is more believable. They will also analyze two different newspaper accounts of the Homestead Strike. Your students will definitely, “think like a historian” with this one!
