This is designed to be taught to a full cohort of Year 10 students who have one lesson a week of core Religious studies, but are not taking the GCSE.

Students have booklets, rather than exercise books.

The unit includes the following lessons:

  1. Introduction to religion and ethics in the media
  2. Media representations of religions
  3. Religious and ethical themes in the film East is East
  4. Religious portrayals in the film East is East
  5. Ethical Dilemmas presented in the film East is East
  6. Assessment

The purpose of the unit is to engage students with the misrepresentations of cultures, faiths and ethical issues in the media. Students do watch the film East is East with activities alongside in their work booklet to engage students in critical analysis of the film.
