A Year 6 RE unit of work based on the Discovery RE curriculum and Islam. This unit looks at how beliefs and community shape a persons identity as a Muslim.

This unit looks at the following questions:

  • Lesson 1: What is community? What is identity?
  • Lesson 2: Why is the mosque so important and what does it mean to grow up in a Muslim family?
  • Lesson 3: How might a Muslim background influence a child’s sense of identity?
  • Lesson 4: What does Islam say about family life?

*I have only planned 4 lessons for this unit to ensure there is a lesson spare in a short 5 week term. This allows one lesson spare to come back to something the children did not fully understand - or to complete tasks. It allows for a lesson to go over two sessions, if required, in greater depth.
