This is Lesson 1 of a four lesson Adding and Subtracting Fractions unit of work for Year 4 (although it is also suitable for year 5). Lesson 1 involves the children adding and subtracting fractions, first using visual representations and then without. The challenge activity: Missing number problems and adding visual representations where the denominators are different

Objectives covered in unit of work:
Add and subtract fractions with the same denominator
Add and subtract fractions with the same denominator and denominators that are multiples of the same number

The entire pack can be purchased either on a lesson by lesson basis or as a four day unit of work which also includes an assessment for the objective and a random worksheet generator tool.
