**A ready-to-teach Year 6 division word problems lesson focused on using division to find scale factors in KS2 maths.

This reasoning lesson is fully standalone and ready to teach, but also works as part of a wider sequence of Year 6 division word problem lessons. (see bundle)**

This Year 6 maths lesson develops pupils’ understanding of division word problems with a specific focus on finding scale factors.

Pupils are guided to use division to identify relationships between numbers and apply this understanding in context. The lesson supports reasoning and helps pupils see how division can be used to compare and scale quantities.

Teachers can use the included Smart Notebook input slides to model methods clearly and support step-by-step discussion. This helps pupils develop confidence when working with more complex word problem structures.

Pupils then complete a differentiated independent activity designed to support all learners while still providing appropriate challenge. Tasks focus on interpreting problems, identifying relationships between numbers, and applying division to find scale factors.
