Reverse percentages
Lesson presentations and activities
Top set year 10 class doing revision on percentages. moves from a starter involving the difference between decimals, fractions and percentages to ease them into it. As the lesson finished sooner than I thought, the second powerpoint focusses more on individual questions one at a time to help the class with collective learning moving onto compound interest VERY interesting question in the plenary.

Two useful PowerPoint resources looking at fractions and percentages. A good mix of questions for pupils to attempt as practice and a good standard of challenge.

(+) is for the teacher and has answers. The other PPT is the same but without answers, ideal for printing out as a worksheet for students. Hint: print 2 or 4 slides on a page and in black & white. Enjoy!!

There is a power point lesson. There is a Number Search (Like a Word search - students answer the questions and the answer can be found in the Number Search) There is also a scaffolded worksheet to support weaker students. Any comments gladly received :)

Everything you need to teach the 4th in this sequence of lessons. The worksheet is a maze, similar to many others I have uploaded onto this website. Join question number to answer, lines should only go vertically or horizontally. See lesson plan for more details.

Practice questions, homeworks and assessments
Structured to help students start answering questions. Then gradually they are given less help on each question. Worksheet covers multipliers, forward percentages and reverse percentages, and then has a mixed questions section, because in my experience students struggle most with identifying whether the question is a forward or reverse percentages one.

Very useful set of questions with the steps made clear. Thank you for sharing
In this worksheet GCSE pupils have one worksheet between two and take it in turns to answer one of their questions whilst the other supports, coaches and checks the answer.

This is a “Tarsia: Convince Me” activity on Reverse Percentages.
Unlike standard Tarsia activities, here you only need to print out the solution (included on the PowerPoint), and students must:
1. Find (at least) 5 incorrectly matched up elements, convince you that each one is incorrect explaining the mistake that has been made, and then decide what the answer should have been
2. Replace the ? with the correct answer
3. Come up with a question to replace ?? that could give the answer. A selection of these questions can then be given to other students to use as a rich, challenging, pupil-created homework.

Crossnumber to test understanding of reverse percentages, 2 to a page to reduce printing.
