Presentation and activity showing learners how the CLT works and how it can be used to produce confidence intervals. Based on the Edexcel syllabus. Includes two Excel demonstrations of the Central Limit Theorem and the variance of the sample mean.

#### Confidence Intervals demonstration on Excel

An Excel simulator does twenty samples each flipping a fair coin one hundred times. Each sample generates a confidence interval for the mean number of heads. On average, 19 out of the 20 confidence intervals will include the true mean of 50 heads,This simulation can be run many times (by pressing F9) and each time a new graph visually updates, showing how confidence intervals work.The number of flips and the probabilities can all be changed too.

#### S1 Revision Learning Grid

Students work in pairs and roll a pair of dice to select the question they should answer. Some squares indicate they should answer an exam question (these range in difficulty so you can differentiate for each pair) and some squares indicate they should be an examiner and mark other students answers. Contains a mixture of questions covered in AQA S1.23/03/16 Error in the answers has been corrected.
