This lesson follows on from ppt 1 for which the objective was to identify the nature and importance of the Second Vatican Council, its history and 4 key documents.In this ppt I have included an activity for students to do after they have revised the 4 key documentsfor homework after the first lesson (4 of the slides from the last lesson are repeated). They then answer an exam question and instructions are given on how to mark the question (using the student friendly mark scheme I have uploaded separately). Lesson includes 4 sample answers for the students to mark before marking their own with a task to help them identify the KISS (knowledge, influence of belief, specialist vocab and sources of authority)Please review if you find the lesson helpful, thanks.

This lesson is part of the inter-disciplinary project: Religion and Sport. Pupils learn to describe a situation where an athlete may experience a conflict between the requirements of their religious belief and the demands of their sport, to identify and explain any religious beliefs/practices associated with the potential conflict and to discuss factors that will influence choices for a person facing such a conflict. The resource can be used with S1/S2/S3 classes (Scotland) or year 7/8/9 (England) and it is designed to last 1-2 periods. Pupils are encouraged to debate, to express their own opinions and to think more deeply about this topic. The activities are designed to give all pupils opportunities to achieve all success criteria and experience enjoyment at the same time.
