Daily Phonics Planning
This is a daily phonics planning guide that follows the revisit and revise, teach, practice and apply structure of phonics instruction. It can be used as an intervention or as a supplement to your current planning. All sounds from phase 2 are covered here.
Revisit and Revise
The first step in the phonics planning guide is to revisit and revise the previous day’s lesson. This will help to ensure that students are solidifying their understanding of the concepts that were taught.
Teach
The next step is to teach the new concept or skill. This can be done through a variety of methods, such as direct instruction, guided practice, or independent practice.
Practice
Once the new concept or skill has been taught, students need to practice it in order to master it. This can be done through a variety of activities, such as games, songs, or worksheets.
Apply
Finally, students need to apply the new concept or skill in real-world situations. This can be done through reading, writing, or speaking.
Tips
Be sure to differentiate your instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
Use a variety of methods to teach new concepts and skills.
Provide students with ample opportunities to practice.
Encourage students to apply what they have learned in real-world situations.
