Social story for children who are touching others inappropriately It covers what our private parts are and the fact that we must not touch other people’s. It also suggests some touches that are appropriate. The point of a social story is to use a patient and reassuring tone to teach children about social situations in a way that can be easily understood. Social stories can be useful for any child who is struggling to understand a situation or concept or needs help to understand a social skill or social cue, expectations, perspectives, common responses or is troubled about an upcoming event but social stories are particularly useful for children on the autistic spectrum for whom social cues can be challenging and who often suffer anxiety if they do not know what to expect from a situation. These books should be used over and over to reinforce the point so I would suggest either putting the pages into a display book or laminating and binding them. This ‘T Shirt About Me’ activity, is a fun, first week back to school ice breaker. It’s a creative way for teachers and students to learn more about each other. Invite students to respond to 30 prompts and questions in a personal and imaginative way, using doodles, words, ‘graffiti style’ lettering and illustrations. The resource is designed for young people, aged 12+, who have social and communication related difficulties. It may benefit those with Autism or Neurodiversities but will also suit a range of learners who find social interaction, relationships, communication and independence more difficult for any reason. A set of questionnaires to be used with vulnerable, SEN and children at risk to address their barriers to learning. Questionnaires targets different questions about how the pupil feels about school. A resource to either be used independently or 1:1 with students to understand areas where they struggle, flourish and need extra support. Questions will help teachers and support staff to understand pupils voice and how they can best support them. There are two questionnaires, one aimed at KS1 and one for KS2/KS3.

This social story is a great read for students who may need some support with biting. A lot of children bite others as a sign of frustration, anxiety, pain etc. - sometimes we may even find no explanation for why they are biting but hopefully this social story will help reduce biting behaviours. It is a general book full of different things your mouth can be used for as well as why we shouldn't bite - how it makes others feel, and if we need to bite what we can do etc. Many students with autism are visual learners and like to learn through seeing something in action. This book comes complete with matching, simple yet engaging graphics to help describe what is being said on the page. Comes in col option only - no b/w availability, however you can print in grayscale.
