Good Example of Fire This is a WAGGOL that goes with a bundle. Click on the bundle to see my 'Fire of London' creative project.

An exciting 'Exciting Words' starter. Get your students into small groups. Lay out the 'boring words' on each table. (e.g. said, little, sad) Give the groups 5 minutes to write as many exciting words as they can, which they could use instead of the boring word, around each boring word. e.g. around 'said' they could write 'exclaimed' 'whispered' 'gasped'. Next ask the groups to move to a new boring word and see if they can add any more words. I usually ask them to move once more. Next ask a student from each group to read out the exciting words. This could be an activity where they use a thesaurus. This resource includes a 'teachers notes' sheet which has lots of good examples for each word. Display this work to inform the next piece of writing.

Read your class the ancient Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur and then ask them to sort the facts into true and false. This festive activity asks your students to each draw around a verse from the very famous 'A Visit From St Nicholas' more commonly known as 'Twas the Night Before Christmas'. There are 14 verses so I got every student to do one and created a display in my room and a display on the corridor. Alternatively you could make it competitive. An inspiration sheet of festive images is provided to help your class with their drawing. This makes a wonderful display and could even be used to create a performance of the poem or assembly.

In this 10 slide PowerPoint the naughty Easter bunny keeps taking the Easter items! (Eggs, rabbits, baskets etc). Children have to calculate how many items will be left after they are told that naughty Easter bunny is going to take certain number of Easter items away. The Easter bunny bounces onto the slide and the items disappear! Great fun!

2 super useful resources for Self and Peer Assessment. Simply stick on the back of students work or in their books and ask them to write a 'What Went Well' and a 'Even Better If' on the faint grey lines. This makes it very obvious for inspection that you are doing Peer and Self Assessment.

This animated PowerPoint is a series of nature based number stories. (15 slides, 14 number stories) There is a script in the presentation which asks all the questions and indicates when to click to make the minibeasts appear or disappear. This is also a great way to introduce common animals and fits in with the national curriculum to "identify and name a variety of common animals". Just change the names within the slides of the PowerPoint to those in your class and then click anywhere around the word 'Random' to jump to a students name. The name bounces onto the screen! A great fun way to choose students in your class. As you can see from the previews it is visually appealing too. It comes with clear instructions. This can be updated and used year after year. It is for up to 32 students. You can change the word Random and it won't effect how it works!
