Generic activities that are adaptable for any guided reading book and easy to differentiate. I have used them during guided reading sessions, so children can work independently after having read the book. Includes: sequencing activity, word finding activity, write sentence about picture from book, write what the character is saying. activities are help with comprehension and do not need much explanation so children can work independently. You just need to add words from the books, or 'shrink' photocopy pictures from book that children have read and stick in 'box' or next to speech bubble. I have included examples of comprehension activities that I have created for 3 specific books, so you can use them as 'templates' for other books.

In this pack I've included a very handy list of all the words used in previous tests (all on one page) It also includes: - 6 pages of 20 Alien words (4 that include words from past checks and 2 new practice checks) - 6 pages of 20 Real words (4 that include words from past checks and 2 new practice checks) I have carefully analysed the past checks to devise the 2 new lists of Alien words and Real words.

It has tips on the back for parents to help them with their child's reading I usually print the cover page on card and in colour, then photocopy the inserts, doublesided and staple them. differentiated activity for teaching subtraction can be laminated and cut up so children can draw apples and rub out one document just has sums which can be used with apple number lines (included in the resources) The idea of apples falling from trees helps children visualise the problem. It is a step towards word problems but without the words children can work at their own pace and go through as many or as few problems You can edit these to suit the levels of your children. I've now included the missing subtraction sums!!!! Also I have included a powerpoint that can be used as a starter, with a link to a website with interactive apple subtraction game. There is also a lesson plan that you can use if like. It tells you a bit more about how you can use resources. I stuck the large numbered apples on baskets, so the children can put the answered problem cards in the correct basket. for example if the answer was 4, the children would write answer on card and place in basket labelled 4. (Just a simple way of getting children getting up and going!) P.S. remind children to write their names on the back, unless you recognise their handwriting!
