A few years ago, I retired from my position as head of Modern Languages, a bit fearful of the "R" word. But to date, it has been nothing but fun! Canadian law requires school-aged actors to study with a qualified teacher when they’re off-camera. Many of our young actors are in immersion French so I've found a happy little niche, teaching a few days a week as an on-set tutor and moving in inspiring and creative circles! Furthermore, I get to share resources here! Vive la retraite!

In a Million Years: a call for peace and brotherhood (Christmas song)

A few years ago, my sister was asked to write a Christmas carol for a songwriting contest. Instead of a traditional carol, she chose to write this song about yearning for tolerance and peace on earth. Her message resonated with me very deeply and I wanted to share it. So I illustrated it. As I have no animation skills, the result is juvenile. But that might work for . . . juveniles. If you’re still looking for a new song for your holiday concert, I hope you might like this one. Peace and love and Merry Christmas to all of you. Carla P.S. I believe she won. The pdf includes the lyrics and a link to the song: Or you can go directly to the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kL4EQd2_rQ

My sister and her writing partner have given me permission to share their happy new Christmas song with other teachers. So, to spark a seasonal singalong, I’ve made a karaoke version of BABY, BABY, IT FEELS LIKE CHRISTMA for your students: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcmCzUoavCc&feature=youtu.be P.S. I’ve also included a triangle puzzle based on the lyrics and, of course, the lyric sheets. (Triangle puzzles make wonderful cooperative activities.) May your well-deserved Christmas holidays be joyful, relaxing, and . . . restorative. Merry Christmas!
