Comparison of Lent and Ramadan

This is a lesson that compares Lent and Ramadan. Split the class into groups and give them different information from the slides to present back to everyone else. Everyone presents their information so the class can discuss and record differences and similarities in Ramadan and Lent. The plenary is an assessment about whether or not fasting is the best way to show your commitment to God. I use this lesson as part of a Year 7 SOW about the Five Pillars of Islam and after a unit of work on Christianity.

Eduqas/WJEC Islam A Level Qur'an Sura Passage Revision Tool

(0)
Eduqas/WJEC have specified some key sura passage that students need to know for the Religious Studies A Level. This powerpoint is hyperlinked so that the teacher or students can choose a random sura and either write what the sura is or they are given the sura passage itself and they have to remember what the sura and ayat numbers are. This is a good revision tool and allows students to revise the suras they need to know. Works well on an interactive whiteboard. You could add pictures or related clips to each slide.

Eduqas/WJEC specifiy 64 words (with definitions) in their ISLAM specification for A2. This powerpoint is hyperlinked, so you (or the students) can choose a random button and it will either take them to the key word or the definition. If they choose to select random key words, they should write the definitions. If they choose a random definition, they should be able to give the correct key word. This works fab on interactive whiteboards. You could add images or youtube links to the "definition" slides.
