Starter activity to practise dictionary skills Students look up the words in the dictionary and figure out the name of the song in English. The singer/band's initials are at the side of each. Mis Vacaciones Desastrosas - reading comprehension WS

Reading assessment given to my Y7s after holiday topic. Most vocab from Metro 1. Questions get more difficult as you go through.

The same text twice with different words missing from each. Students read the text to their partner until they have two completed texts, then could translate into English. Used with my Y8 Spanish. Vocab from Listos 2.

Writing frame which I gave to my Year 8s to talk about holidays using the preterite. Vocab taken from Listos 2.

Includes j'ai, je suis, brothers, sisters, twins, qui s'appelle/nt There is one slide of vocab for them to copy and fill in the blanks - in future i will print out vocab sheets to save time (I'm only a PGCE student so still learning :) ) The last slide is for students to play Guess Who either as a class or in pairs. Make sure they don't just say 'comment t'appelles-tu?' like mine all did.

Spanish - Reading comprehension - Where I live

Spanish quiz 'who wants to the be a millionare?' about general knowledge of Spain.

Sheets with regular ar, er and ir verbs conjugated with the English translations. These will need to be cut up and put in envelopes. Put students in groups and give them an envelope. Students then have to match subject pronoun, stem, ending and English translation. -It's also good to print each set off in a different colour so that groups don't get their pieces of paper mixed up. -A good idea (but not my own) for if pieces do go missing - give students a mini whiteboard and they can write down the parts that they think are missing.

Powerpoint with colours, a few other adjectives and the 'ser' conjugation. I'm going to use it alongside Mira page 46/7. You may want to change the footers :)

Worksheet with images of animals (pets) and the vocabulary at the bottom. Pupils write the correct word underneath each animal. Could be used alongside the Mira textbook.

PowerPoint based on the app '4 pictures 1 word&'. Various vocab covered including body parts, food, different verbs. In French but could be adapted for other languages. This one is mainly for Y8 but could be used for other years to recap vocab. I have done one for Y7 and Y9 as well. Can be used as a starter activity. Students try to guess the word from the pictures and the letters given.
