I am an English Teacher at an SEMH secondary school. My resources cover a wide range of key stages and abilities to cater for the complex needs of my students. Often my resources will be designed to appeal to older students with a lower ability content, but they still work well for younger students also. I have a big interest in Phonics, low ability resources with a high interest level for older students, creating useful displays and making stickers to aid in my marking.

A bundle of my Shakespeare display resources A set of twenty four Shakespearean insults with the play citation. (header included) A set of five Shakespeare facts. (header included) A set of thirty phrases first introduced by Shakespeare. (header included) Not seen on the preview, but on the mock up of a display board: they are presented with aged paper as a background for interest. I have found them to be a really useful way of engaging students with Shakespeare. My students had lots of fun using Shakespeare quotes to insult eachother and me (in a light hearted way of course!) I would suggest cutting the insults and the phrases into individual strips for your display.

Halloween Internet Treasure Hunt Differentiated End of Term Cover Lesson suitable SEN Special Needs

I created this resource for students at my SEMH secondary school who have a varying range of abilities. This is a perfect resource for an end of half term, or a cover lesson. It is highly engaging and my students always enjoy these tasks. Whilst made with SEN students in mind, it would be suitable for mainstream primary and secondary age students. I have made three levels of challenge from low primary school levels with cloze passages, and sentence starters, up to a more challenging “treasure hunt” aimed at KS3 students working at age appropriate levels. There should be something there for everyone! I have also included teacher answer sheets for easy marking. I hope your students enjoy this as much as my students do.

SPaG Adhesive Marking Label 6. Spelling Correction Colouring In Activity Pack J8160

Spelling Correction Colouring In Activity I use this as a spelling correction activity in my SEMH school. When marking a piece of work as per our school’s marking policy I correct spelling mistakes. I choose one spelling and highlight it. I create the spelling colouring in. I quite often find when marking a set of books the same spelling error is repeated over the same piece of work. Once I have spellings for five or six books, I print out the colouring in sheet, cut out the spelling and paste in. I accompany with a marking sticker asking the student to colour in the word. I choose to print out on paper and cut out, but I have also created a template for adhesive labels that will fit Avery J8163 or similar 14 labels per page, for those that would prefer to work that way. Some of my colleagues freehand “bubble write” the spelling directly into the student’s book instead of typing up and printing out, so that is another option that may save you time. My bubble writing is not that tidy, so I prefer to type out and print the spelling, but if you have beautiful bubble writing that option may work for you! My students really enjoy this activity, and it is a nice task I can get them to complete as they arrive for the lesson, and a little bit different to that standard spelling correction task. When you and the student look back through their exercise book, these spelling corrections show the spellings they are working on in a clear and colourful way. The students are also able to find the correct spelling quickly and easily if they have corrected it before.
