Following the letters and sounds curriculum, this activity will help your littlies to practice their segmenting, blending, phoneme recognition, fine motor skills and writing. Super useful!
Containing gameboards with grey writing for your littlies to trace over, and black writing so they can just focus on reading, there is plenty of flexibility with this game. Both the grey and the black game boards have the target phoneme highlighted in red/pink to keep you kiddos focused on the sound.
Simply roll the dice, find the corresponding column, read the word and then either cross it out or trace over it.
In my classroom, we like to pick the number we think is going to be the winner and then race to the top! You could even turn it into a competition and give each child a different coloured pen. If they can sound it out correctly, they trace/cross the word. Winner is the child with the most of their colour.
An engaging way to get your littlies practising word skills. Use it in phonics lessons, word work segments, literacy centres or English lessons.
As always, my resources are made using the OpenDyslexic font to help our dyslexic learners. It is newly updated to include the sans 'a' that primary teachers prefer! We are dyslexia friendly!
