I am a KS1 teacher with experience in Leeds, Wakefield, Nottingham and Preston. Currently teaching year 1 in Northampton. I found a huge lack of suitable resources, so instead of creating quick resources to use and chuck, I dedicated my time to creating quality resources based on what my classroom needed. Everything I sell has been used in my own classroom, is based on the national curriculum/letters and sounds phonics scheme, and is presented to a high quality. Please leave feedback!

Phonics - Phase 3 - Alien Phoneme Spotter Stories

Phonics - Phase 3 - Alien Phoneme Spotter Stories

Engaging phoneme spotter stories based around a group of aliens that crash on Earth. Each story is based on a different alien, and features a focus phoneme. Based on the Letters and Sounds curriculum, suitable for use with Jolly Phonics, Read, Write Inc and any other phonics scheme. Features phoneme spotter stories for ALL phase 3 sounds: j v w x y z zz qu ch sh th ng ai ee igh oa oo oo ar or ur ow oi ear air ure er All your littlies need to do is grab a pen/pencil/highlighter and get reading or scanning to find the target phoneme, while having a chuckle at the cheeky creatures. The product (as with all my others) is in the OpenDyslexic font to help dyslexic learners. This does not have a negative impact on any other learners and is proven to boost reading ability amongst those with reading related learning difficulties. Feedback is greatly appreciated. Phonics - Phase 3 - Word Sorts

Phase 3 Phonics Word Sorts! Word sorts for all 27 of the phase 3 phonemes. Contains one sorting table, 14 word cards with the target sound, and 14 word cards without the target sound, for each phoneme. Always a favourite in my classroom. The children get plenty of practice identifying a phoneme and segmenting, blending and reading words. Great for independent and guided work. Made using OpenDyslexic - a font designed to help dyslexic children. This has no adverse effects on children who do not have dyslexia, so it’s a win-win!

Phonics - Phase 5 - Roll, Write, Read

Roll the dice and trace over the word (or cross it out). Which number will win? 27 game boards with grey writing (for tracing), 27 game boards with black writing (for crossing out). All game boards have the target phoneme highlighted in red. Suitable for letters and sounds, jolly phonics, read, write, inc. or any other phonics scheme. Containing gameboards with grey writing for your littlies to trace over, and black writing so they can just focus on reading, there is plenty of flexibility with this game. Read each word and decide whether it has the target phoneme in it. If it does, they place it in the column headed ‘ar’. If it doesn’t, they place it in the column headed ‘not ar’. For added challenge, they can write out the words in each column instead. Aside from your standard sorting activity, this has been successfully used as a relay race/scavenger hunt. Hide the cards around the classroom, send the children off to look for them in relay fashion or in teams. A taster of a larger word sort package available in my shop. Race against the clock to see if you can beat your score! This pack contains a Speedy Ready sheet for each of the 27 phase 3 words (letters and sounds curriculum but suitable for Read, Write, Inc., Jolly Phonics and any other phonics scheme). Each sheet contains a few nonsense/alien words to help provide practice for the year 1 phonics test.

Contains 20 words cards (real and nonsense) for each of the 27 phase 3 sounds. Contains work mats with US style handwriting lines, UK style handwriting lines and plain top and bottom writing lines. Simply pick a card, make the word out of play-doh, lego, magnetic letters, etc. and then write it. Great for phonics lessons, interventions or continuous provision. Just laminate, cut and go!

First 100 High Frequency Sight Word Fluency Practice

Speedy Readies! The more your littlies practice reading a word, the more likely they are to remember it and recognise it in sentences. Give them tonnes of fluency practice by using these Speedy Readies! Just put your littlies in pairs, assign each a colour (either green or blue) and get them to read their coloured words in order. Give them a minute to see how far they can read, then try again to see if they can beat it. They'll get plenty of practice saying each word, stronger readers can lead the weaker, and they have loads of fun trying to beat their time. Use in phonics lessons, literacy centres, word work sessions, as guided reading prompts or as assessment to see which words you littlies need more practice with.
