Solving Linear Equations Expanding Brackets and Combining Like Terms
Math Colouring Activity Algebra Maths Wall.
Students will solve linear equations, including equations whose solutions require expanding brackets and combining like terms.
For example, solving 𝟐(𝒙 − 𝟑) = 𝟑𝒙 − 𝟏𝟔
✦ Notes:
There are 20 questions on solving linear equations.
Each answer occurs twice, once with a number and once with a colour.
The matching colour can then be used to colour the picture in a colour by number activity.
The resource is printed in black and white for the students to colour in.

There are 25 answers on the answer sheet, but only 24 questions.
The challenge is for students to match all the questions to their corresponding answers and find the extra answer. When they find the extra answer, they can create their own question for it.
This resource can be used as a worksheet, or you can read out the questions and let students cross off their answers in a quiz/bingo style.
The questions are non-calculator.
