Shrek Media Study Film Unit
Designed for teaching the 2001 film Shrek as a critical essay text. Includes a PowerPoint designed to take pupils through the essay as well as worksheets for use beforehand. Also includes a short group talking task which can be used as an extension task. Designed for use with a fairly low ability class, but could be adapted to be used with less support.

Remote Learning Creative Writing
Creative writing resources designed to help pupils who are working from home or working with less support (these were made during the first lockdown). Includes a variety of worksheets which cover different aspects of creative writing (character, dialogue etc.) culminating in writing their own story.

In Your Own Words Resources
Worksheets designed to help teach pupils to answer ‘in your own words’ questions. I used them with my National 4 class but could be used at any level to teach the skill.

A PowerPoint which can be used to teach own words, word choice and sentence structure skills. I used it with my S2 class but it could be adapted for other levels.

Home Alone 2 Media Study
A short unit of work designed to support the teaching of Home Alone 2 and a related critical essay. Includes a PowerPoint and three differentiated essay plans.

A PowerPoint with quotes arranged by subject designed to support Nation 5 pupils this year. Each category has a quotation from Glasgow 5th March 1971 (since that's this year's poem) and two quotations from another poem.

A PowerPoint and critical essay plan designed to support the teaching of The Play of Room 13, dramatised by Joe Standerline, original novel written by Robert Swindells.

Extension Writing Tasks
A selection of short tasks (mostly writing-based) which are great for use as extension tasks. I printed them off, cut them up and let the pupils choose at random which ones they will complete.
Example: In your jotter, write a description of your favourite place. You should use the 5 senses to help you describe this place - sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell."

Merchant of Venice Social Media Profiles
A series of worksheets with fake blank Facebook pages for main characters in Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice including Shylock and Portia. Great for an extension activity.

Lists Rhetorical Questions Resources
Worksheets for teaching lists and rhetorical questions as part of RUAE/close reading. I used them with S1 and S2 classes, but they could be adapted for use with other levels.
