Scots Poetry Unit
A unit of work designed to teach Scots poetry. The poems included are Shug the Claw by Gerry Cambridge, 6 O’clock News by Tom Leonard, A Dug, A Dug by Billy Keys and Lament for a Lost Dinner Ticket by Margaret Hamilton. The unit works up to writing a newspaper article in Scots. Also includes a short Scots word quiz.

A short unit of work designed to support the teaching of Home Alone 2 and a related critical essay. Includes a PowerPoint and three differentiated essay plans.

A unit designed to teach the films Elf and Home Alone. Works towards a comparative essay. The pupils will also read two reviews based on the films and compare those within their essays. I used it with an S3 class but could easily be adapted for other levels.

A PowerPoint designed to help pupils prepare for their SNSA - includes work on punctuation (commas, apostrophes etc.), clauses and various small tasks which test understanding. Can also be used as starter tasks.

Guy Fawkes
Associated resources surrounding Guy Fawkes night. Includes historical sources and scripts for the class to hold a trial as to whether Guy Fawkes was set up or whether he was guilty. Great for a wee bit of fun in the run up to December. I used it with S1 but could easily be adapted for other levels.

A PowerPoint designed to teach the novel The Extinction Trials by S.M. Wilson. Also includes an essay plan to support end of unit essay writing. I used this with a middle set S3 class but it could be adapted for use with any secondary class.

To Kill A Mockingbird Play
A unit designed to teach the play adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird. Includes a PP and an essay plan. I used this with a top set S3 class but it could be adapted for other ages/levels.

War Poetry Dulce and Remains
A unit of work designed to teach Wilfred Owen’s Dulce et Decorum Est and Simon Armitage’s Remains. Includes a PowerPoint teaching both poems, a PowerPoint with an annotated version of Remains and an AVU-type comparative essay write-on sheet. Also contains Critical Reading/TA-type assessments.

A PowerPoint and essay plan designed to support the teaching of Guillermo del Toro’s film Pacific Rim. I used with a mixed S1 class but could be adapted for other levels.
