This is world map skill lesson. In the lesson students will be locating continents, oceans and some countries on a world map then creating their own map version. The purpose of the lesson is to improve students location awareness. This is a practical lesson, a good task for any time of the year but especially suitable for end of term run ins or those dreaded period 5s or for use as a cover lesson. There is a quiz at the end to wrap up the lesson as well. The lesson is suitable for all key stages.

This is a GSCE lesson in the urban change unit. The lesson examines the factors responsible for urban growth or change in developed, developing and emerging countries. Key facts about the lesson are: 1. It's based on the new GCSE specifications. 2. It's a complete lesson with all the resources you need to deliver it - a starter, learning activities and plenary. All you will need is the ppt which I've attached. Just teach! 3. It has a range of activities relevant to the assessment objectives of the new specifications. There is a numeracy activity where students have to compare development indicators and there is a graph making activity which develop the geographic skills element of the new specs. 4. It has a couple of differentiated activities for students at either end of ability level. 5. It introduces development indicators which overlaps with the unit on development in the new specs.

The lesson explores the differences between the job sector and economic sector in cities in developed, developing and emerging countries. 2. The lesson compares primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary sectors in different cities around the world 3. The lesson examines the differences between informal and formal employment. It also compares this in different countries. 4. The lesson looks at the Clarke-Fisher model. 5. The lesson is based on the new GCSE specifications. 6. This is a GCSE where the learning is focus on comparing constructive and destructive waves. The lesson will allow students to analyse the different types of waves and how they affect the coast differently. Key facts about the lesson are: 1. The lesson meets the requirements of the new GCSE specifications. However, it can be adapted for a top set year 9 group. 2. The lesson starts by exploring how waves affect the coast using the concepts swash and backwash. There is a great little activity that will allow students to differentiate between swash and backwash. The lesson then moves on to compare constructive and destructive waves. A very straightforward activity is used here; students will be able to access the information easily and the teacher can then focus on writing/exam response techniques here. The lesson will become analytical now where students have to apply the knowledge to three different scenarios. 3. The lesson is differentiated. There are visual aids including diagrams, images and a video clip. There are also challenge activities throughout to stretch students' understanding. There are some clever tasks that are designed to get students to apply their knowledge. This is key to doing well in the new GCSE specifications. 4.
