They will achieve a rewarding result quickly; and in so doing develop confidence in their ability to control the language, rather than have it control them. 10 Awesome Writing Ideas

This eBook contains ten great ideas that will get your children writing. Writers of all abilities are given a simple structure that will enable them to succeed in getting words down on that blank piece of paper. They will achieve a rewarding result quickly. To encourage independent work, each activity begins with an example of the intended outcome, so young writers can see what they are aiming at. The activity is then explained, step by step, leaving you, the teacher, to decide how best to present it to your class. For some a short piece of writing might be a great achievement in itself. For others it is just a start and they can be encouraged to revisit and redraft their writing to make it the best they can. Christmas Writing Ideas - The 12 Ways of Christmas

A dozen creative writing ideas for the festive season for all ages, from Goodeyedeers. Actually it’s 13 ideas, but they are for Christmas and we like to think we’re generous here at Goodeyedeers. They range from • writing very small poems to making one very large book. • poems of different numbers of fixed lines, and ones of as many lines as the writer wants. • recipe poems, list poems, kennings, acrostics, collages, countdowns – and count-ups. • poems featuring alliteration, similes, synonyms and antonyms, with plenty of performance potential for that final assembly. Christmas Literacy - Christmas Kennings

(0)
Christmas Kennings - a great KS2 Christmas literacy lesson from Goodeyedeers. This is a fun exercise and a great way to get children writing simple, yet effective poetry. Children are encouraged to come up with verbs to describe the things something or someone does. This can be down individually or in pairs. The verbs are then changed into two-word kennings, which can then be extended to make more interesting kennings. The PowerPoint presentation guides the class through how to create kennings about Santa and then a Christmas cracker. These are then displayed as poems and can also be riddles. The Teachers’ Notes include some background information on kennings and how they were used in Anglo Saxon times. All the money raised from the sale of this resources is donated to a local charity for children called MedEquip4Kids. If you enjoy using this resource then please leave us a review. Thanks.
