This worksheet is intended as a guide for students to take the chords and melody to Jingle Bells which are provided and to adapt them to fit different musical genres. The genres with specific guidance are Traditional (Major), Sad (Minor), Rave and Hip Hop. Each of the named genres have noted features with guidance for students to recreate the given material in their chosen style. There is a chord box with the notes for each chord (Major and Minor) as well as the melody to get students started.

This session should last for 3-4 hours focused on learning and composing music for film. It highlights the ideas of a leitmotif, including examples from Star Wars, James Bond, Mission Impossible and Pirates of the Caribbean. There are work sheets on diegetic and non-diegetic sound, the instruments of the orchestra and different musical styles used in film. The final sheet is detailing the steps used when creating variations of a melody such as sequencing, inversion etc. These sheets are designed to be either used in conjunction as a booklet for a days intervention or spread across a few lessons. Each sheet is a self contained topic which can be used individually in isolation from the rest of the booklet if needed.
