Gymnastics Balances Check Sheet

(3)
Two quick task sheets for Gymnastics I made for my Year 6 class: Basic Shapes task - I used a market place approach for this in my first lesson. Students had to recall as many basic gym shapes from the sheet, then perform the shape for 5 seconds and diagram the position. Any shapes they didn’t remember, they visited other’s mats and helped each other. Individual Balances sheet - I had pupils perform these balances with a partner. Students spent 6-8 minutes exploring these balances, checking off the ones they could perform, and tried to help each other improve the ones they couldn’t.

15 Fitness Test Reciprocal/Teaching Cards; Normative Data Handout. In this pack, there are 15 fitness cards that I have students use to set up and complete their own fitness tests. This pack also includes a handout of average fitness level scores for adolescent males and females. By making these, I found my fitness testing lessons moved away from a teacher-centered approach to a more student centered lesson. I would generally use these cards for the first and last lessons of a unit - therefore students can monitor progress.

GCSE P.E. Learning Grid - fun revision and learning activity which requires two dice. Students take it in turns to roll the dice, and then whatever number they land on i.e., 4 and 6, students land on the 4th row, column 6 and must give three facts about that keyword, image etc. If they land on a question mark, students must answer a long-answer exam question.
