Worded Maths Questions for children in year 6 or KS3. Used before SATs as a top-up or to find missing knowledge in their calculation skills.

Taken from a book I wrote. There are hundreds of poems - all linked to a different curriculum standard. The whole of Maths KS2 is covered! Simply find the curriculum descriptor you are looking for, and there will be a poem for you. Every poem can also be a lesson! Each poem introduces the subject, clarifies the vocabulary and explores an example.

Note: There are two arithmetic papers with non-linear question difficulty and no 2 mark questions. They are both very similar and are built for speed. This is not designed to give you an arithmetic scaled score; it is more designed to help children approach trickier fraction questions early (always the easy fix) and not get bogged down in the longer multiplication and division questions. I have found that his helps train speed.

Homework for the Autumn Term for Year 5 or Year 6. It starts with the basics in Place Value and moves through the curriculum. It follows WRH at points and Maths-No Problem at others. Ideally, it is used alongside class teaching. Can also be used for revision.

Covers the major areas before the SATs examination. I used this as a tool a few days before the tests - can be used throughout the year as a quick way to assess their knowledge of most of the curriculum.

Use the inverse (or trial and error at first) for doubles/halves to find the answers for the missing boxes in this investigation. Ideal for World Cup topic work or for a maths starter in Years 5 or 6. Could even be used as a whole school competition - or as an end of reward. Feel free to add more boxes for differentiation or change the ratios at the beginning to make it more challenging.
