Six week project looking at designing materials for either a Food, Film or Music festival. Can be adapted to all KS3 Year groups but this is run with Year 8. Some investigation work, designing and development (both by hand and using DTP or CAD).

This is a full day enrichment week activity and followed up a school visit to Thorpe Park. The timings for the day and the structure is set up to meet the needs of my school, but it can easily be adapted to whatever format you may require.

Simple project that can be easily adapted to any KS3 Year group, develops 3D design thinking and making skills in paper or card. Materials easily adapted, normally just a two lesson project but it can easily be expanded.

Simple tracker, one for Design & Technology and one for Food Prep. & Nutrition. Both are based on the 2018 grade boundaries for Food Prep. & Nutrition, which is the only active data, this can be changes when more results come through in 2019. NEAs are broken down into component parts. Red filled banners self populate when data is entered. The ‘Exam Mark Needed’ column is based roughly on what a student should achieve in the summer exam to achieve a grade 4/5. Mock grades for Year 10 and 11 can be entered but only the Year 11 mock grade is used in the ‘Final grade to date’ column. This grade we are using as the predicted grade. ** It’s not perfect but it works for us.**

The framework can be used by subject areas to help audit current planning, practice and resources across a range of subjects in Design and Technology , both in relation to the new National Curriculum requirements and those identified by DATA as 'additional to the programmes of study' . By completing the mapping within the framework, departments can identify strengths, gaps in provision and areas in need of development. The framework is set up for the rotations in my school but additional columns can be added.
