An engaging and interactive lesson in which students gather information about poet Thomas Hardy. Students conduct guided research before sharing their findings with their partner. The use of iPads or a device would benefit the student research although this is not essential as information about Hardy is already provided.

Quiz to revise key quotations. Students find quotations to demonstrate Birling's relationship with other major characters, e.g Sheila, Mrs Birling etc. Quotations then animate on the board as examples. Students consider Birling's best and worst qualities. This is a great revision tool for students to recap Mr Birling and his relationships. Please note, the lesson refers to page numbers from 'An Inspector Calls and Other Plays' Penguin Modern Classics.
