This is a powerpoint for the first lesson on cells in year 7. The slides include all the information needed, plus two differentiated activities.
The first is an information hunt (the worksheets and info sheets are included at the end of the powerpoint) and the second is a consolidation activity where students write about cells. The information hunt includes two possible worksheets for differentiation. To stretch higher ability students further remove the names from each info sheet and have the students identify it from the picture.
This resource is a PowerPoint lesson plan for students learning about the scientific method. Suitable for KS3 or KS2
It requires some "mystery tins" which many schools have in their prep room or are easily made, these are used to demonstrate the steps of the scientific method. Then students then follow the steps of the scientific method to complete a mini investigation to find out what is in the tins without opening them up, followed by them evaluating the methods they used and thinking about how they could improve their ideas further.
The PowerPoint also includes the steps of the scientific method and a definition for hypothesis that the students can note down.
The second lesson in a sequence for year 7 students. This covers the parts of the microscope with a worksheet for students to label, and includes a task for looking at cells under a microscope. The students look at onion cells and answer questions about what they saw. There are extensions for differentiation.
