#### Introduction to Circular Motion

(0)
A good resource for use with the new GCSE (9-1) and for recap when looking at further mechanics in A-level. The lesson plan introduces the basic ideas of circular motion with notes to help students understand. They then complete an activity looking at how various factors effect circular motion, helping them get familiar with the key idea that force is towards the centre of the circle. Finally they apply their knowledge to answer a question about orbits. Students can peer mark this and AFL can be achieved by them placing a post it note on the board over the number of marks achieved by their partner, giving you a quick idea of the understanding of the group as a whole. Instructions for the practical and a mark scheme for the question is included.

#### The scientific method - introductory lesson for KS3

(3)
This resource is a PowerPoint lesson plan for students learning about the scientific method. Suitable for KS3 or KS2 It requires some "mystery tins" which many schools have in their prep room or are easily made, these are used to demonstrate the steps of the scientific method. Then students then follow the steps of the scientific method to complete a mini investigation to find out what is in the tins without opening them up, followed by them evaluating the methods they used and thinking about how they could improve their ideas further. The PowerPoint also includes the steps of the scientific method and a definition for hypothesis that the students can note down.

#### Topic 6 - Differentiated Task - Rutherford's Experiment

(0)
This is an differentiated activity designed to assess and consolidate knowledge of models of the atom and Rutherford's experiment. Students answer questions about the experiment going up a grade ladder. It's very easy to mark, simply tick off all the grades the student has completed and circle a final grade based on an overall judgement. Students can then rewrite one of the grades they did not complete correctly as a student response.

#### Introduction to Forces

(0)
A powerpoint and lesson plan for an introductory lesson on forces, good for KS3 or lower ability GCSE classes. Students write a definition of force, measure forces and take averages, and draw a simple force diagram. Easy to differentiate by providing more or less information, for example you can provide students with the names of the forces for the diagram, or get them to label it by themselves.

#### Edexcel GSCE (9-1) topic tasks - Separate science paper 1

6 Resources
Topic tasks to consolidate and/or assess all content in the first physics paper (for separate/triple science). Good for revision, HW, cover work, or class work. The tasks are all differentiated with a grade ladder to help students reach their target grade.

#### Topic 7 - Differentiated Task - Big Bang and The Steady State

(0)
Written task in the style of an essay to help assess and consolidate students understanding of the big bang and steady state theories, and why scientists accept the big bang as the correct theory. A grade ladder is included to help students structure their work. This task could be set as HW, cover work or done in class time. It is very easy to assess, simply tick of the grades the students have managed to include and complete correctly, then circle an overall grade based on your judgement. Students can then be given more information to help them improve or complete any missing grades.

#### Topic 3 - Differentiated Task - Conservation of Energy

(0)
This is a task designed to assess students on Topic 3 of the Edexcel GCSE (9-1), it could be set in class, as homework or as cover work. This can be used as consolidation as well as assessment, it is also differentiated as the students can choose which grade they are aiming for and work at their own pace. The task is similar to a badger task, students are asked to explain the bowling ball pendulum demonstration using their understanding of energy conservation. There is a grade ladder to help them complete the task.

#### Topic 5 - Differentiated Task - The Electromagnetic Spectrum

(0)
A differentiated task, which is similar to a badger task with a grade ladder that students work their way up, that is based on topic 5, the EM spectrum, from Edexcel GCSE (9-1). This can be used for consolidation or assessment (or both!). Very quick to mark, simply tick the sections of the grade ladder each student has completed and circle their grade. Students can then be pointed towards resources that will help them improve a particular level.

#### Topic 4 - Differentiated Task - Waves

(0)
A differentiated task that can be used for consolidation or assessment. Based on Topic 4 of Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Students are given a grade ladder to help them write a script for a TV show on waves, the information should be aimed at students in year 8 and should be fun and engaging. Students can choose the grade they are aiming for and work at their own pace, grades 1-9 are included. This can be a group or individual activity.

#### Topic 2 - Differentiated Task - Newton's Laws

(0)
This is a task designed to assess students on Topic 2 of the Edexcel GCSE (9-1), it could be set in class, as homework or as cover work. It works as a differentiated consolidation task as the students can choose which grade they are aiming for and work at their own pace. The task is similar to a badger task, students are asked to explain a range of situations, and use Newton's laws to help them. There is a grade ladder to guide them and for use in assessment of their work, and is best done as consolidation of the topic. The situations are: • An object sitting stationary on a desk • A car moving at a constant speed • A plane accelerating • A person skydiving.

#### Edexcel GCSE(9-1) topic tasks - Combined science paper 1

5 Resources
Topic tasks to consolidate and/or assess all content in the first physics paper (for combined science). Good for revision, HW, cover work, or class work. The tasks are all differentiated with a grade ladder to help students reach their target grade.
