The second lesson (although suits stand alone also) of 2 separation lessons. This lesson covers distillation & chromatography, and includes differentiated extension tasks and summative past paper application questions.
A resource with both Higher & Foundation tier content, covering salts from metals. This lesson contains the practical Zn + Sulfuric acid reaction to prep a salt.
HT content includes half equations and practice on this.
FT will write up practical where as higher tier will go through half equations.
FT homework is PPQ & HT homework is to complete write up of the practical.
Includes starter, differentiated outcomes & extension/challenge tasks.
A revision lesson covering Earth’s atmosphere for AQA 9-1 Combined Trilogy (easily adapted for Chemistry or Synergy)
The lesson covers key areas and is fully outcome driven for progress.
Includes levelled outcomes & differentiated PPQs.
AQA 9-1 GCSE lesson on Types of reproduction.
This lesson follows the homeostasis unit and leads into Cell division (mitosis & meiosis) for sexual reproduction.
Targeted for a mid/lower ability group.
A full lesson including PPQ & application work on carbon compounds, fullerenes & nanotubes.
The lesson covers bonding in diamond/graphite & silicon dioxide as well as associating properties of these, to their uses.
An entire lesson (2 dependent on ability) for collision theory, rates of reaction calculations & surface area.
Fully outcome driven against the following. Can be adapted for higher/lower ability classes.
State that chemical reactions can only occur when a collision occurs with enough energy.
Describe how surface area of a solid can be increased.
List the factors that can affect the rate of a chemical reaction.
Calculate rates of reaction
This lesson focuses on the calculation side, something students are generally weaker on, with the practical following next lesson.
Fully differentiated and scaffolded to support with examplar answer to make peer/ self assessment a big part of your lesson.
9-1 AQA . A full & differentiated lesson on group 7. Targets higher ability but easily adapted. Does not include practical work, however can easily be adapted to include halogen displacements mini practical.
Includes past papers questions and a wide array of AfL.
Mid range ability lesson on Hydrocarbon, alkane naming and boiling point properties, as well as crude oil uses & extractions.
This will lead into fractional distillation next lesson.
Fully outcome driven for progress.
9-1 AQA GCSE.
AQA combined trilogy lesson for lower ability students (Foundation paper) on embryo screening & inherited disorders.
Differentiated outcomes, RAG tasks, mwb assessment & past paper questions included.
Also includes homework & WAGOLLs.
GCSE AQA 9-1 Trilogy lesson for pure substances & mixtures, fully differentiated for middle ability group.
RAG task, extension and independent tasks, range of resources & AfL included
AQA 9-1 Chemistry lesson, to cover Mr & moles/masses calculations.
Higher ability and differentiated, with loads of opportunity for questioning, modeling. Peer/Self assessment is plentiful, throughout, including the PPQ & activity sheets.
Full practical based lesson on Chromatography, incl the required practical and Rf calculations.
9=1 AQA GCSE, but suits other boards.
Includes differentiated outcomes/ppt includes multiple apply tasks.
Past paper questions & required practical handout included also.
A lesson on climate change, global warming and greenhouse effect. Fairly interactive lesson with plenty of extended writing and differentiation by outcomes to drive progress.
This folder contains 3 levels of sheet which are designed for revision or intervention style lessons.
All 3 are the same besides the application questions.
Suggested use. - Print double sided.
Students complete the knowledge quiz in silence, this is to assess current knowledge, and then peer/self assess this with teacher support.
Students then have short period of teacher talk/discussion time to work through the placemat, you may include use of own revision resources/text books/ teacher modeling etc.
Students complete past paper questions firstly in exam conditions, and then using peer discussion or text book/revision guide support.
The aim is that all students gain the base knowledge overview from the KQ & the placemat before applying to varying levels of challenge Past papers. Sheets are targeted to 1-3 grades, 4/5 and 6+ HT grades.
More to follow, feedback welcome!
A full lesson on life cycle assessment & recycling, aimed at lower ability 10s or (11s for revision & recap) Designed with clear outcomes and metacognition informed layouts.
Lesson utilises opportunity for questioning and a wider holistic understanding of the processes.
This resource covers the whole of paper 1 combined trilogy in 1 hour (we have an hour 15).
The resource follows a repetitive simple structure for each of the 5 units.
Mini knowledge quiz
Self assessment on the mini quiz
The unit on a page, time for teacher talk & discussion around 4 key domains.
Foundation or Higher Past paper Q & mark scheme.
This repeats for each unit, making for a fast paced and punchy revision resource, which can be printed & filed, or uploaded to students VLE/google classrooms after the lesson has been delivered.
Chem paper 2 will follow later this academic year.
