Comparison of approaches summary table

Comprehensive revision table summarising similarities and differences between each of the approaches. Designed for the AQA A-level specification with one of the core textbooks in mind, but useful for all levels and exam boards. Included are filled in ‘answer’ versions and versions for students to fill in, in both word and PDF. The resource could be differentiated by providing less able students with more of the boxes filled in.

Parsons' 'types' of society card sort.

Sheet designed to be printed onto card and cut up for students to then sort out the characteristics of Parsons’ Traditional and Modern societies. Good for consolidating understanding of key terms, and for kinesthetic learners. Could be used to introduce the topic or as revision. There are two sets of cards per A4 sheet to save on photocopying costs.

Marxism variants activities

Two activities designed to help students distinguish between different forms of Marxism. In the first, they compare Gramsci- and Althusser and in the second, compare Humanist Marxism to Classical Marxism. Answer sheets are provided.

Gender Development: Role of hormones table

Gender Development: Role of hormones table

Students reduce and summarise information describing the role of hormones in sex and gender development and evaluate it using research evidence. Designed to be used with the Hodder ‘AQA Psychology Book 2’ (Lawton and Willard), but would also work with other texts. This activity could be used when introducing the topic, or done from memory as a revision activity to test understanding. A filled in version is provided, which could also be adapted, e.g. with gaps to fill in for less able students.

The structure of neurons crossword

Designed to work with AQA A-level Biopsychology, this crossword tests students’ understanding of the structure of neurons. Answers are included along with versions in word and publisher.

Divisions of the Nervous System Card sort

Divisions of the Nervous System Card sort

Designed to be copied onto card and cut out, students arrange the cards into a tree diagram to show the divisions of the nervous system. It could also be copied onto paper and students could cut and stick the cards into the correct places. Some cards are components of the nervous system, others are functions and there are brackets to join them. Can be done in pairs, as revision or using information given, e.g. from a textbook. Designed for AQA Biopsychology.

Designed to help students compare approaches on criteria related to issues and debates. Students place each approach on each of the continuum arrows, justifying their choice. Created with the AQA A-level specification and one of the approved textbooks in mind, but useful for all levels and exam boards in psychology. PDF and publisher versions included.
