Year 6 Secondary Transition Powerpoint

Year 6 Secondary Transition Powerpoint

(0)
This powerpoint was written as a collaboration between myself as a qualified teacher with 15+ years experience in primary and my son, who is in Year 6, at time of writing. The idea was to create a powerpoint which could be used as a starting point for conversations around how the children are feeling and what they can do if they feel nervous and worried about starting secondary school. The aim is for them to feel empowered by knowing that others’ feel the same way and to build a toolkit of what to do if they are anxious. Ideal for a short lesson or as a filler at the end of the day. Could take 20 - 40 minutes depending on length of discussions and whether you set the tasks as group/whole class discussions or include written tasks. My son has negotiated a share in the profit from sales! Many Thanks, Miss B and T.

A letter template for Persuasive Writing

(14)
A template intended to help pupils structure a persuasive letter. This template could be easily edited to suit requirements. There are lines providing space for children to write if printed off or the template could be opened on the IWB for a whole class activity or on computers for children to overtype.

Somewhere in the Forest - descriptive writing

A short passage about a boy called Addi who finds himself lost in a dark and scary forest. This passage could be used as a whole class activity with year 6 or could be simplified to use with other year groups. An idea of how the first passage could be improved to make it more descriptive and interesting is included in this resource.
Would you rather?

Would you rather?

Would you rather have two noses or three eyes? Would you rather have a self cleaning house or a self cleaning car? Would you rather only drink tea forever or only drink coffee forever? Once you start thinking these up, you can’t stop! Use these 32 cards as a time filler before break or at the end of the day for discussions. Have a class vote for which they’d prefer then ask the children to share their own ideas. Great for KS2, who love the concept!

Rosa Parks Comprehension

Rosa Parks Comprehension

Rosa Parks! A narrative text and a non-fiction text. With comprehension questions and answers. Rosa Parks was a key figure in the American Civil Rights movement and is a hero to advocates of anti racism. The fateful day when she refused to stand up to give up her seat to a white man on a bus in Montgomery, sparked the Bus Boycotts which lead to the end of segregation on buses. This story is often used in October, during Black History Month in the UK. However, this comprehension exercise has been designed to use any day of the year, to support civil rights education and anti racism discussions. It was created for a freelance writer position for an educational resource website, but since I never heard back about the job, I thought I’d share it with you to use in your classes. I’d love to hear what you think, so please do leave a review. Especially if it lead to valuable anti racism discussions. Let me know!

Since the start of the pandemic I’ve been studying the Gram obsessively. I’ve helped many small businesses grow their brands and given a lot of valuable advice. One thing I do when anyone asks for help, is to check their account, asking myself questions: Do they have a clear photo of themselves as their profile picture? Is their name relevant to what they do? Does their biog make it clear who they help? This self auditing tool helps you improve your account by giving you an extensive list of questions to ask yourself. With ideal responses plus aims and goal setting sections to establish your next steps. If you have an account and want to move it up to the next level or a career coach who wants to help get students set up on social media, this tool will help you with best practice. Download today! Feedback appreciated.

My year 6 son said these were not a good idea. He said no teacher would ever give these to their class and that I even spelled “Sic,” wrong. - So I’ve included both spellings. He advised me to change what it says on all of them! Is he right? Or was it worth a try? I’d love to prove him wrong and make these my best seller! Designed for year 5/6 or even year 7 - as I heard year 7 still like stickers! If you class love them please leave a review! I’ve got a score to settle!
