This game takes me back to my youth! i have made 9 games.
i am going to get the children to choose and alien, open and close the right number of times to segment the colour.. p.i..n.k / g.r.ee. n..
then choose the number on the flap in side and count again, then choose a final number, read the name and say the sound... open to check!
Photos don't have the numbers on as i printed before adding them, not ink in printer- will update once ink is purchased!
We are now exploring rapid recall of number facts. To make it a little bit more exciting I have adapted my phonics fortune activity to be number bonds
3 4 5 6
5 6 7 8
7 8 9 10
Shapes on the front... I thought choose a shape and open and close according to shape properties ... Circle 1 side pentagon 5 sides
Early bird activities / Group work
A set of yoga /action phonics cards covering
RWI set 2 and 3
added e-e, ue, ie, ey and au from phase 5
space themed to match current topic. Use as whole class, small group, 1-1 or perhaps send home. as children know the action and sound they can be put out for continuous provision!
Space is our topic next term. So thinking ahead I have made some Physical Development / Phonics action cards for my Reception children. These will also linking with our Yoga sessions.
I am thinking whole class, group work, phonic sessions, send home, laminating so children can select and complete independently once actions known.
These can be done as a class session, early morning activities- during phonics and also printed and laminated so once the children know the action they can select a card and complete independently.
A complete set of RWI decodable sounds.
set 1 covers satpinmdgock..... etc
set 2 covers ay ee igh oo ou oy ir or ar air
set 3 covers oi ue er ew ue ai ea aw oa are ure ear ire a-e i-e o-e u-esound buttons to help with segmenting and blending
short sentences to read
nonsense words to read too
I am printing to use and send home to reinforce.
i have made some tricky / common exception word watches. There are some flash cards and also some sheets with our words to find.
One idea is to give children a selection of watch sand ask them t find a friend and mark it off one of the sheets(they are in groups of 5)
a watch a day. i was colour in a star each time they say the word correctly!
Over to you!
i have uploaded two sets- they are in different orders (i think!)
at least 20 watches, 20 flash cards and tick sheets with 5 per sheet
one set of flash cards comic sans- other set twinkle font, similar to sassoon
Print and fold to make paper fortune style phonic games.
it is the old fashioned game i played as a kid! choose number and open and close choose number and segment and blend the word underneath. my Year 1 children loved last years nonsense words ones , class 2 did as well!! so thought this year for phonics table i would do the same but for reception sound recognition and segmenting and blending skills. use at school or take home- ours went into the playground too!
