The lesson then focuses on the idea of food miles and is it actually better to buy locally or not? Presentation and resources for whole lesson included.

This presentation aims teach how consumerism is destroying eco-systems with a focus on Cod in the North Sea. The powerpoint looks at the problem, how it is being managed and the effects of this on the environment and people. Silent debate activity also included - statements are spread around the room and students write their own viewpoints on each statement sheet, these can then become a great basis for thoughtful class discussions. Activities also allow opportunity to practice math skills through data analysis.
