Story Board the Iron Man by Ted Hughes.

(2)
ENGLISH KS2 RESOURCE for pupils at Primary School, studying the Iron Man by Ted Hughes. After reading the whole story as a class, students sequence the events. This could be broken down further and completed after each chapter. Print one copy in colour (this is the answer sheet for the teacher and TAs) and the rest in black and white, down scale onto A4. Print the story map on A3. Students are to organise the summaries into five chapters along the dotted line of the story map. They can illustrate the story map with pictures once they have sequenced the extracts, summarised from the text.

This resources uses The Frayer Model of learning vocabulary to zoom in on specific words within poetry and find definitions of those words. It also encourages readers to go deeper and consider what the word does not mean. By looking closely at word level comprehension, students will be better equipped to understand and write about the meaning of poems at KS3 and KS4.

Poetic devices definitions_blank to fill in and revision card page

These five A4 revision pages structure revising for the English Literature Poetry Anthology, by structuring year 11 revision into smaller units. The revision card page encourages students to remember all they can about each poem in the anthology and store it onto one handy revision page. Encourage independent revision, providing the structure, so that year 11s can get on and commit those poetic terms to memory. Year 11s should be able to recall some of the terms, and then look up the poetic terms that they have forgotten from their own class notes. A handy structure to organise revision once the poetry anthology has been taught.

Creative writing, 'Wish you were here' with picture stimulus and collaborative word bank.

Creative writing, ‘Wish you were here’ with picture stimulus and collaborative word bank. Here is a ready to go printable resource to help get students thinking creatively about imaginative travel writing. There are six destinations to write a postcard from, each with a word bank and sentence starters. There is a simple three point success criteria so that the students can self assess their work. Meant for literacy interventions or as a starter activity for a more involved lesson on travel writing or creative writing. Much needed in these times of staycations and global lockdowns to allow students to expand their thinking once again. Aimed at KS2 or could be used for lower ability writers at KS3 secondary as well.
