This bundle contains samples of short pantomime scripts that staff can rehearse and perform to students. I was asked by the governors of the school to produce a script for a pantomime that they and staff could perform to the students. They felt that the this was something that the children would enjoy (they loved it!) and it would be something different for them. Rehearsal time was minimal for us due to work load. Scripts were given out a couple of weeks in advance but we only came together on the morning of the performance to read through the lines. We went on stage with the scripts in hand but the children didn’t mind as they just loved that the staff were being silly and entertaining them! I hope you enjoy the scripts and I hope to write more soon!

SAMPLE A script for an Assembly about the ancient Egyptians. The script covers the topics hieroglyphs, pyramids, the making of mummies and the River Nile amongst others. The scrip is aimed at a class of 25 or more students with a number of named characters. Very few props are required and there is the ability to insert a quiz at the end of the assembly.

SAMPLE This assembly script is written for 25 or more performers. The script follows two evacuee children from when they first listen to the declaration of war on the radio, through their evacuation and eventual return home after the war. They are taken in by an elderly couple who teach them about make do and mend and then they join in a summer fete with a Bake Off twist! Props are kept to a minimum and there are a couple of sound effects e.g. air raid sirens, train guards whistle. Suggested songs could be any traditional war time songs e.g. We’ll meet again or White Cliffs of Dover. The full script is available to purchase.

This has been written for a year 3 assembly but can easily be adapted for other age groups. The assembly follows the adventures of Big Skeleton, Little Skeleton and their dog Sherlock Bones. We covered Apollo 13 so there are references to that. We found it difficult to find a song for the children so we asked on student if he’d like to write a rap which turned out to be amazing!

A Roman assembly script covering Julius Caesar, the invasion of Britain, gladiators, Roman numerals and Pompeii. Cast: The cast is easily adaptable to suit a class of 25 or more children. Main characters: Child 1 & 2 (comedy duo of sorts!) Pliny the Younger Julius Caesar Props: A box or large piece of card on which has an arrow that can be pointed at either Latin or English. Cards with Emperor, Senate, Consul, Plebeians, Salves written upon them. Music: Suggested: • The Roman Numeral Song • Just like a Roman - SingUp or Youtube Duration: The script should last about 15 to 20 minutes; this does not include music. SAMPLE Cast: Twelve female roles although this could be performed by a smaller group with parts being doubled up. Scenes: All the action takes place on what is essentially a school stage. No back drops or scenery is required. Props: No props are required Sound effects: A gentle flatulence noise (short and discreet) A door bell followed by a cow mooing and sloppy cow pat splat. This Christmas I’ve had an all female group of twelve students to write a script for. I wanted to make sure that they all got equal stage time but also I wanted to keep the piece to a short and reasonable length. I feel that it could be performed as a series of monologues by as few as two or as many as twelve performers. The idea is that the girls are all playing the same person, Mary Christmas, who has received extravagant, inappropriate and truly bizarre gifts from her true love this Christmas and she is, in one way or another, not impressed by what she has received.

I’ve written this for the year 6 leavers this year. Due to social distancing I’ve decided that the best way perform this would be to film each student individually and then use some software to edit them in to a performance. The script is written for twelve students but it could easily be reduced by doubling up parts. There is some parts with few lines and, if required, there is the option to have one as a non speaking role. The idea behind the script is that the students are all taking part in different Zoom calls and the issues that they face.

SAMPLE Christmas News is a short 10 minute Christmas script for 8 characters. Brad and Samantha are news reporters interviewing a number of different characters. We have Kirsty, a reporter suffering from satellite time delay, Mary and Joseph, the bull who was in the stable, and two children who believe that there is a Christmas conspiracy! The characters can be renamed to suit a differing amount of male/female actors. Very few props required and only one sound effect (which isn’t necessary) The full script is available to buy.

This is a sample of the full script which available to buy Jack and Jill are back to save the school once more in an original pantomime. It’s Christmas Eve and there is to be a last minute inspection. The evil You’va Nochance is determined that the school will fail and will stop at nothing to ruin the day. Join our intrepid duo assisted my Dame Dolly Dollop, Miss Take and Miss Place as the inspector visits a school where the display boards haven’t been changed in five years! This is a pantomime written with the idea in mind that the staff perform it for the students. This could be at an end of year show or at Christmas when pantomimes are traditionally performed. There are a few simple props which are easily created and two simple sound effects (a door bell and a phone ring). No back drops or scenery are required for this panto and, apart from the Dame’s costume, dressing the characters should be easy! The Dame is traditionally played by a man and requires an over the top dress, make up and a larger than life character. I hope you enjoy the script!

This is a free sample of the full script. Paul Pan is Peter Pans brother. Whilst Peter is away the Evil Captain Spoon captures Wendy! Can Paul, along with his friend Dame Nanna, rescue Wendy and defeat Captain Spoon and his henchmen Smee and Hee? This is a pantomime written with the idea in mind that the staff perform it for the students. This could be at an end of year show or at Christmas when pantomimes are traditionally performed. The script is for 6 persons. No backdrops, scenery or sound effects are required. Props are kept to a minimal (a sword and a fake rolling pin!) And, apart from the Dame’s costume, dressing the characters should be easy! The Dame is traditionally played by a man and requires an over the top dress, make up and a larger than life character. This is a bundle containing samples of the scripts that I’ve written for students as part of either a Christmas concert or a Year 6 leavers show. The scripts have all been performed by my students and last a maximum of 10 minutes. Props are kept to a minimum and those which are required I normally make myself using images glued on to card. For ease, sound effects I also try to keep to a minimum. Back drops and scenery are not required. I hope you like the scripts that I produce and I will keep writing them as long as I get inspiration and as long as I have a drama group to write for!

SAMPLE It is the last school disco of the year and 3 friends decide that Duncan King must not be allowed to ruin this one with his poor MC-ing skills. They convince Beth that it’s her destiny to become the greatest school disco legend ever… MC Beth. Will it all work out in the end or is MC Beth in for a short reign? This is a play written for 8 actors and should take no more than 10 minutes. There are few costume requirements apart from a crown, cape and sunglasses for Duncan King. Props are kept to a minimum and are easy to create. No scenery or back drops are required. A couple of sound effects are required. The full version is available to purchase.

How can she break this to Princess Anna, who adores Christmas, without upsetting her? Meanwhile, Sven and Olaf have a joke telling contest to find out who’s the funniest in the kingdom. This is a short four-person script intended for the staff to perform to the students and allow the children to see the adults in a different light. I’ve found in the past that there is no need to have huge amounts of rehearsals. We’ve gone on after just having an hours read through and then we read from a script whilst on stage. The very fact that you are putting yourselves out there and performing to the children means that they will over look any “rough around the edges” parts! I’ve left it open in regards to the jokes that you want to tell as you know what would make your students laugh! With the joke telling contest, the children will decide who the winner is by cheering for their preferred choice. Anna will then decide who got the loudest cheer. The script will then need to be adapted for the winner to accept the win and then acknowledge the other competitor.

SAMPLE Marina is a trainee teacher posted to the Von Trapp Academy. Will her unusual teaching methods flourish where others have failed? Based upon The Sound of Music this is a comedy for year 5-6 students. Staging is and props are kept to a minimum. The play does require the students to sing acapella to the simple tune of Knees Up Mother Brown. Run time is about 10 minutes and is for 10 students. Parts are of varying size allowing those less comfortable to still be involved.

This is a sample Carrie Trotter and her friend Harmony Danger are students at Piggy Pimples School of Magic. It is Christmas eve and Professor Bumbledor has some awful news, the evil Goldigore is planning to ruin Christmas by stealing the special power source for Father Christmas’s sleigh… The Christmas Scone. Can Carrie defeat Goldigore in time or will Christmas cease to exist as we know it? A 10 minute Christmas play written for seven characters. No scenery or backdrops are required. Sound effects are minimal and not necessary if you are unable to supply them. Props can be easily created or sourced.
