A collection of assembly and Christmas scripts that I've written over the years! I'm very much an advocate of trying before you buy so all scripts are available as samples for free. Also, check out the children's book that I've written about a chicken who dreams of playing football!

Paul Pan - The boy who couldn't fly. A pantomime for staff to perform to students.

Paul Pan is Peter Pans brother. Whilst Peter is away the Evil Captain Spoon captures Wendy! Can Paul, along with his friend Dame Nanna, rescue Wendy and defeat Captain Spoon and his henchmen Smee and Hee? This is a pantomime written with the idea in mind that the staff perform it for the students. This could be at an end of year show or at Christmas when pantomimes are traditionally performed. The script is for 6 persons. No backdrops, scenery or sound effects are required. Props are kept to a minimal (a sword and a fake rolling pin!) And, apart from the Dame’s costume, dressing the characters should be easy! The Dame is traditionally played by a man and requires an over the top dress, make up and a larger than life character. I hope you enjoy the script!

It would also require students to write some arguments about non renewable vs renewable energy sources as well as writing some information about circuits and why they won’t work.

Save the Talent Show - A pantomime for staff to perform to students

(0)
Mrs Meanie is the evil head teacher who thinks that fun isn’t part of a school life. Will she manage to ruin the school talent show or will our heros Jack and Jill save the day? This was performed by the governors and staff of the school who wished to do something different for the children. As with traditional panto Dolly Dollop is the Dame played by a man and when it was performed the governor had made sprout earrings and really dressed up for the occasion! He hid and wasn’t seen by the children or other staff members until his appearance on stage. Due to lack of rehearsal time (we had a read through for an hour the morning of the performance!) the cast went on with scripts in hand. We felt that this didn’t impact the performance at all, if anything, added to the silliness of it! There are parts of the script which will allow you to use references to local places to add that personal comedic touch! I hope that it gives your students as much enjoyment as ours received from seeing the staff in a different light! There is no scenery, backgrounds or props required (except a clipboard) There are excerpts of some music that you will require (Macarena, YMCA and the Flower Duet) 6 x Speaking roles and as many non-speaking extras as want to take part!

They are taken in by an elderly couple who teach them about make do and mend and then they join in a summer fete with a Bake Off twist! Props are kept to a minimum and there are a couple of sound effects e.g. air raid sirens, train guards whistle. Suggested songs could be any traditional war time songs e.g. We’ll meet again or White Cliffs of Dover.

Misdemeanours in the classroom - A 10 minute pantomime for staff to perform to students

Miss De Meaner (or Mr Meaner if being played by a man!) is the new head teacher at the school. To staff and students she is the perfect head teacher but really she has a master plan to rule the world! Can our brave students Jack and Jill supported by the staff (Miss Place, Miss Take and Dolly Dollop the lunch lady), defeat the evil and save the school? This is an original pantomime script for staff to perform to students. It was written after the school governors decided they wanted to do something special for the students at Christmas although it can be performed at any time. There are six main parts and 3 smaller parts who only have a couple of lines to say. Back drops and scenery are not required and props are kept to a minimum (a small loaf, a white sheet and 3 cloaks.) There are two optional sound effects but these really aren’t required for the plot. When our staff performed the pantomime our rehearsal time was an hours read through in the morning. We took the scripts on stage with us and in all honesty the children didn’t mind one bit! They just loved seeing the staff do something special for them. I hope you enjoy the script as much as our children did!

The Inspection Before Christmas - A pantomime for staff to perform to students

Jack and Jill are back to save the school once more in an original pantomime. It’s Christmas Eve and there is to be a last minute inspection. The evil You’va Nochance is determined that the school will fail and will stop at nothing to ruin the day. Join our intrepid duo assisted my Dame Dolly Dollop, Miss Take and Miss Place as the inspector visits a school where the display boards haven’t been changed in five years! This is a pantomime written with the idea in mind that the staff perform it for the students. This could be at an end of year show or at Christmas when pantomimes are traditionally performed. There are a few simple props which are easily created and two simple sound effects (a door bell and a phone ring). No back drops or scenery are required for this panto and, apart from the Dame’s costume, dressing the characters should be easy! The Dame is traditionally played by a man and requires an over the top dress, make up and a larger than life character. I hope you enjoy the script!

An original comedic play which is a modern take on the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. Caroline Scrooge is a grumpy teacher who hates Christmas. After a visit from her old teaching assistant (whom she over worked) She is visited by a fairy (Fairy Nuff) who takes Caroline to see Father Christmas to teach her the true meaning of Christmas. A play with a cast of 10 actors who can be male or female. Props are minimal and can be easily created. There are 3 separate scenes although no scenery is required. The play lasts about 10 minutes and is suitable for ages 11-14. The play would work well for an end of term performance as part of your Christmas celebrations.

To Frozen - A pantomime for staff to perform to students

CAST: Anna Elsa Sven Olaf Props: There are no props required Sets and back drops: There are no sets or back drops required Sound effects: There are no sound effects required Plot: Queen Elsa has a dark secret she’s been hiding for years… she doesn’t like Christmas! How can she break this to Princess Anna, who adores Christmas, without upsetting her? Meanwhile, Sven and Olaf have a joke telling contest to find out who’s the funniest in the kingdom. This is a short four-person script intended for the staff to perform to the students and allow the children to see the adults in a different light. I’ve found in the past that there is no need to have huge amounts of rehearsals. We’ve gone on after just having an hours read through and then we read from a script whilst on stage. The very fact that you are putting yourselves out there and performing to the children means that they will over look any “rough around the edges” parts! I’ve left it open in regards to the jokes that you want to tell as you know what would make your students laugh! With the joke telling contest, the children will decide who the winner is by cheering for their preferred choice. Anna will then decide who got the loudest cheer. The script will then need to be adapted for the winner to accept the win and then acknowledge the other competitor.

Twelve Days of Christmas - sample 10 min drama script

(1)
SAMPLE Cast: Twelve female roles although this could be performed by a smaller group with parts being doubled up. Scenes: All the action takes place on what is essentially a school stage. No back drops or scenery is required. Props: No props are required Sound effects: A gentle flatulence noise (short and discreet) A door bell followed by a cow mooing and sloppy cow pat splat. This Christmas I’ve had an all female group of twelve students to write a script for. I wanted to make sure that they all got equal stage time but also I wanted to keep the piece to a short and reasonable length. I feel that it could be performed as a series of monologues by as few as two or as many as twelve performers. The idea is that the girls are all playing the same person, Mary Christmas, who has received extravagant, inappropriate and truly bizarre gifts from her true love this Christmas and she is, in one way or another, not impressed by what she has received.

Cast: Mary Joseph Quiz Master Wise Man 1 Wise Man 2 Wise Man 3 Colin The Shepherd Props: Baby doll Jar of Nescafe Gold Frankenstein mask Bottle of after shave with “Grrr” written upon it Mobile phone Sound effect: Sheep bleating Rustling and struggling noises Phone being broken I’ve written this short Christmas script with the thought that each character could be pre recorded and then a video could be edited together so that the final product is socially distanced and complies with Covid-19 regulations. The premise is that the cast are taking part in a Zoom quiz. Joseph can’t get the camera working, the Wisemen weren’t able to get the right gifts and Colin the shepherd is attacked by his flock!
