Characters/things included are: Arthur Birling, Sybil Birling, Sheila Birling, Eric Birling, Gerald Croft, Inspector Goole, Social Class, Responsibility, Gender, Age and Capitalism Vs Socialism. Unicorn Story & Comprehension Activity

As a mentor, I try to make activities quite personal which does tend to hold the concentration better. This worksheet works really well. Read the unicorn story twice, answer the questions and then answer the other set of questions which is personal choice. i.e. What are you going to name the unicorn? and How old is the unicorn? These are questions with no answers in the story so it allows the children to think on their own and write their answer. Story written by Aiesha Brown and edited by Charlotte Andrews.

Miss Andrew’s One Word Learn! Is a brilliant and effective way of getting secondary students to learn new vocabulary regularly. The PowerPoint is colourful and funky! The idea is to introduce 1 new word at the start of each English lesson (could also be used as a house or extra-curricular activity). You would spend about 7-10 minutes, start to finish on this. Workbook included in this download. For each word there are 4 slides: Title slide: Introduces the word Definition slide: Gives definition of the word from Oxford Dictionary Example slide: Two sentences showing the context in which you could use the word in Activity slide: A wide range of English activities to complete using your new words; such as synonyms, antonyms, sentences, word search, similes, metaphors etc. There are 10 words included in this PowerPoint and 41 slides in total. Our whole school use it and the progress and feedback has been extremely positive! I aim to upload a new PowerPoint every 2 weeks. Please let me know if there are any words you’d like to see! Hope you like it!:) ON SALE FOR THE FIRST WEEK!

Literature Revision Checklist

Great checklist to give your students for each book so they can see what they do know/need to improve on - great for checking their understanding and helpful for when planning revision sessions. Students are asked to write the book title, a summary of the plot, answer 7 questions using yes/no tick boxes and then they need to write 2 areas in which they need to prioritise and 3 areas where they feel comfortable and just need to recap. Hope you like it - so useful!:)

Uppercase & Lowercase Alphabet Flashcards

Perfect to teaching your children/students alphabet recognition and lower and upper case letters. Cut out the flash cards (laminate is optional), ask the children/students to match up the uppercase with the lowercase letter. I find my students like to do it on the floor, nice change from sitting at the table! Great activity as a lesson starter or as part of the main lesson!

Word of the Week Train Display/Poster

I love this resource so much! I write the word of the week on the main train and then break down the word in each carriage and every lesson before we start we break up the word and put it all together or sometimes I put the sounds used in each word for my more advanced students. Never fails to make the children laugh! Print as big as you like a laminate, I use this on our display board. Document contains one train and 3 carriages.
