Explore Reading! Booklet

This is an amazing resource that I made to get children of any age (I use it for primary and secondary) to look at a wider range of texts and to develop understanding in all areas of writing (eg. structure, layout, purpose, format, text type). This resource is 34 pages but is set to print as an A5 booklet. It has a front cover, a page on how 20 minutes of reading a day can improve reading dramatically, a page on how to prepare yourself to get the best out of reading, a page on how to use the book and a page on all the types of texts the student needs to read. These include newspapers, play scripts, comics, football report, diary, letter, fiction and non-fiction etc. There are a total of 14 to be completed. I give these to my students to complete at home and at least 1 should be done per week; but they could be done in school time. I hope you like it:)

Interactive Word Quiz Starter for English/Form Time

Fun and engaging interactive word quiz. Great for English as a starter or Form Time. PowerPoint is made up of 53 slides. Grid with different categories ie. antonyms, parts of speech, analogy, synonyms and root words in the titles and then points down the column ie. 5pts, 10 pts, 15 pts, 20 pts, 25pts, each person/group choose their category and the points they want to try and earn (higher the points, harder the question), you then click on the points and it takes yo to the question, if they get it right they score those amounts of points, you then hover over the house picture and it takes you back to the title for the next person/group. Amazing resource to have - includes everything from antonyms, verbs, adverbs, nouns and adjectives. Hope you like it:)

What is a Clause? Presentation for English Lesson

Good yet easy way to understand about what a clause is and how to use them; along with the rules of doing so. 16 slides with 4 tasks to complete as you go through it. It takes me a whole lesson but I get students to copy all slides down (not a lot of writing). Hope you like it:)
