High-quality and successful Geography resources. I have been teaching for 12 years and have an MA in Teaching. I am now leaving the profession so feel it necessary to share some of the best resources I have created over the years. These have all been put on initially at a very cheap price as I wanted to make as available as possible to the educational community without being taken advantage of. Please enjoy to create better geography experiences for students everywhere.

KS3 Earth Story Booklet

Used successfully with Year 7 as a 12-lesson unit at the beginning of the year. Everything needed is in the booklet and can be projected straight onto the screen as it is a PowerPoint. Easily editable if needed. This video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHUTbq-j0UU about Earth’s history is a nice accompaniment. Our school uses ‘Challenge’, ‘Big Challenge’, and ‘Super Challenge’ to identify different levels of challenge and these are represented as : C, BC and SC in the booklet. Downloading the ‘Geography lessons and tasks overview’ spreadsheet will enable you to change the overview images should you require to do so. As a department, we moved to directly completing work in booklets which I created as Head of Department instead of Exercise books. This approach was partly as a result of student voice and a change in departmental direction. We found the booklet approach to be highly beneficial for a wide range of reasons, for example; student outcomes, ease of marking, engagement in tasks from the beginning of the lesson, easily setting starting points, AfL etc and they have been well-received by students and acknowledged as excellent practice by SLT and during an Ofsted inspection in 2018. The creation of each booklet took me a lot of time, as did the overview spreadsheet and both can be easily changed to meet the needs of your school / department. This booklet is a free sample to enable you to see the concept. All other booklets have a similar structure and wide range of tasks and very reasonably priced. The GCSE ones go well with the Pocket Posters Revision Guides and we bought every student one of these to enable them to develop independent learning habits. They are very cheap and found at: https://www.daydreameducation.co.uk/products/revision-guides-pocket-posters?subject=42 Any feedback / reviews welcome. Enjoy!

A simple, structured and proven way of getting your students to understand what it takes to perform well in 9-mark questions. Can be used as a stand alone lesson in preparation for assessments or as a reflection activity. Technique is guaranteed to improve student scores if applied. In Trial exam experiments, high achievers improved by 1.5 marks on average after being taught this technique and low achievers improved by an average of 1 mark. For students that used the technique, the improvement was 2.5 marks for high achievers and 2 marks for low achievers. 9-mark example answer to work through following the guidance page on technique with tasks (identify the parts of the answer and correct spellings). Space for students to attempt their own answer to a different questions with sentence starters. Lesson plan attached.

I hope you and your students enjoy using this resource.

Geography lessons and tasks overview

(0)
This spreadsheet is the result of countless hours of work in breaking down the National Curriculum, AQA GCSE and AQA A-Level specifications for Geography and dividing up into sub-groups / topics, lessons and specific tasks. In short it is a full scheme of work for a Geography department from 11-18 for the entire year. As I am leaving the profession, I feel the hard work that I put into this document should be shared. The spreadsheet and units on each of the tabs correspond to the booklets I have also made which compliment this departmental scheme of work. I can assure you that every aspect of each unit at GCSE and A-Level have been covered and many of the tasks (which are framed as exam type questions) actually appeared in examinations in 2018 and 2019 in the new syllabus. Our school uses ‘Challenge’, ‘Big Challenge’, and ‘Super Challenge’ to identify different levels of challenge and these are represented as : C, BC and SC on the spreadsheet. Downloading the corresponding booklets will bascally mean that your department has pretty much all the resources they need. The only GCSE booklet not complete is the Economic World one but all the tasks are set out in the spreadsheet. The organisation of our departmental scheme of work (this resource), along with the booklets have been acknowledged as excellent practice by SLT and during an Ofsted inspection in 2018. As mentioned, the creation of this overview spreadsheet took me a very long time yet can be easily changed to meet the needs of your school / department. All booklets I have created have a similar structure and wide range of tasks and are very reasonably priced. Please see the free resource - ‘Earth Story booklet’ for an example of the structure and types of tasks seen in all of the booklets. 6 packs of lessons covering a range of topics. Easy to use for stand-alone lessons or as a topic / series of lessons as originally designed. Develops and encourages independence and very easy to mark. Supports teaching on these topics as a means for students to develop their learning. Also ideal for setting as cover work or for a non-geography specialist to work through or as extension work for more able students. Any Atlas would support content in these booklets so no need for accompanying textbooks. A very small number of tasks refer to Pocket Posters Geography books (£3.00 per book) but these can easily be edited out / reference resources created if do not have copies of this book in school.
