Diversity - Text progression (Primary School)

Here are two documents, the first is a pdf that shows the current texts we cover in each group in my setting. We are currently trying to ensure that our English curriculum contains a range of representation (different races, disabilities, family make ups etc). In this document, you will also find a world map which either shows where the story is set, or where the author is from, with the aim of showing coverage across the world! (Year 1 and 2 are slightly light currently in my setting so I have added a ‘suggested texts’ page at the end) The second document is a performance poetry progression document. I have attached this because we also try to include diversity in the poems we choose. Please be aware that this is not an exhaustive list - there are so many wonderful texts/poems out there to explore. I would love it, if you got in touch and shared the texts you have studied and the children have enjoyed.
Writing Skills Progression Log (Editable)

Writing Skills Progression Log (Editable)

(0)
A writing skills progression document for each year group for 1-6. These are derived from the National Curriculum Interim Assessment documents for year 2 and 6. The skills for years 1,3,4 and 5 have been taken from the National Curriculum and then mapped across the different year groups to ensure that they build skills in order to ensure progression. I have also produced a SEND writing log based on the pre Key Stage skills outlined in the National Curriculum, which I have broken into the relevant stages. They have been in place for some time in my current setting and have really helped improve our writing data. As a school, we use the document once per term reflecting on the term’s work. It is a working document that the children use to reflect on their own learning and the teachers use to assess writing levels. In Years 2 and 6 you will see the document is slightly different - this is because in my current setting they are used more frequently for moderation purposes. This is an editable version of the document that you can personalise.
