Reading Extracts on the theme of 'outsiders'
Six extracts taken from six different novels which focus on the theme of being an 'outsider;. Each extract is accompanied by a blurb, comprehension questions to ask either during reading (or after), a ‘challenge’ question and finally a longer task for students to complete to extend their learning/understanding.
Extracts are from the following texts: Daz4Zoe, The Outsiders, Stone Cold, Bone Sparrow, Now is the Time for Running and Coming to England.
Works great for a reading lesson or helpful for cover lessons!
Thesis Statements - help sheet with examples
A help sheet which breaks down the complicated process of crafting a thesis statement into something more digestible for students through the format of a formula.
It comes with examples for AQA anthology poetry, An Inspector Calls and the Unseen Poetry element.
Year 6 English Transition Lesson - Poetry
A transition activity for Y6 (heading into Y7) to have a poetry taster. Students will have the chance to show off any prior knowledge, consider why words and poetry are important before having a go at creating their own page poems.
You will need pages from books/novels for students to complete the activity. They can never believe they’re allowed to draw on the pages!

GCSE English Language Structure Strips
Structure strips to help students craft detailed and focused answers for the AQA GCSE English Language spec. There are strips for Q2-4 for both Paper 1 and Paper 2.
Strips are one to a page to allow for ease of use and colour-coded to make it clear when students need to move on. These are best suited to learners who are just starting out with the AQA spec and ready to write answers or those who struggle to formulate their responses.

A simple but effective template to help your students track when and how much they’re reading! These can be printed double sided and there are two to a page. They can be printed on A4 for a larger book mark or on smaller card for a more traditional size.
Works well to have a quick glance in your lessons and can open up meaningful conversations with your students.
Whole class feedback sheet
A straightforward template to help collate whole class marking feedback. This is a ‘teachers’ version and not designed to share with students.
The template can be copied and pasted to provide additional pages so it can be kept as a record per class. It can be printed and kept as a hard copy but it also works excellently as a google document! It’s been an absolute time saver for me and helps to keep thoughts/notes organised.
