This really makes students think about algebra in a different way and can help visual/kinaesthetic learners get their heads around algebra. A resource/concept that can be extended indefinitely. She gets EXP points for solving mathematical problems, allowing her to level up and explore the huge interactive world. Puzzles range from basic to extremely challenging, a pen and paper is almost certainly required to solve them! The game has music and sound effects. Everything is controlled using the ARROW KEYS, ENTER/SPACE & ESCAPE keys.
This game does not need to be installed so you can extract the folder to a shared drive on the school system and use the "Save Location" file to point to the student drive. This means students can play their own unique game from any computer in school while saving their progress at any time. Enter your school's name into the "School Name" file for a hidden "Easter egg" within the game.

An extremely different approach to teaching trigonometry that allows high-ability students to truly understand what the sine function is doing. This tried-and-tested guide shows students how to scale up and down right-angled triangles produced by a unit circle in order to solve any trigonometry problem. This is for students and teachers who don't just want to memorise SOHCAHTOA but really want a deeper understanding of trigonometry. Anyone who has had to apply trigonometry in real-life situations such as engineering or computer game design will know that SOHCAHTOA is not appropriate for our high-ability students. This method is advocated by MEI lecturer Tomi Owens, among others. Not only does it develop a deeper understanding of trigonometry but it allows students to practise Pythagoras and complex enlargements. Be warned, this method may only be suitable for the most able of students.
