This resource tests pupils rearranging skills in order to identify the gradient (m) from an equation. Pupils must assess the answers of two different students, ticking one and trashing the other. There are three different worksheets each requiring different skills when rearranging linear functions. The three worksheets are
Worksheet A; This worksheet has 9 questions; finding the gradient from functions in the form y=mx+c
Worksheet B; This worksheet has 9 questions; finding the gradient by rearranging functions.
Worksheet C; This worksheet has 9 questions; which cover all the above style questions covered in worksheet A and B.
Test your students’ ability to spot mistakes and develop their understanding with this activity. Pupils are given two different answers to a question and have to determine which is correct. They then have to explain what misconception has led to the incorrect answer.
Full instructions, ideas for extension, and a solution are provided in the resource - what more could you need?
Thank you for looking.

Christmas Maths Sequences Collect a Joke
This is a collect a joke activity which requires pupils to collect the words to collect the Chist-maths Joke “Why isn’t every man in a red suit with a beard Father Christmas? ?” and punchline “Because correlation doesn’t imply Claus-ality”
Pupils start where indicated, make a note of the word in the middle of the row (cross it out to keep track) and then work out the answer to the question below. They then find this answer on the top row and again make a note of the word underneath, thus forming the joke and punchline.

Heat Maps can be displayed or printed for each pair of pupils. Each heat map increases in difficulty indicated by the hotness, the redder/hotter the more difficult the question. Pupils choose a cell to start at and perform the given operation with the corresponding element of the question from the x and y axis.
This heat map requires pupils to add together the algebraic fractions, this is with increased difficulty due to the denominator being made up of algebraic terms or expressions. This resource is available as part of a Heat Map Bundle, check it out!
